I have been informed that recently Arts Victoria withdrew a grant which was already APPROVED for a very talented and enthusiastic promoter of musicians/bands from Victoria. I have worked with Steve Iorio before on matters of band bookings/mgmt and touring and am appalled that this grant has been revoked. He truly works very hard in organizing and promoting music without recieving any financial assistance whatsoever, and to finally get some recognition and help, then finds the rug pulled out from under him. At this point in time, I believe he has now lost many thousands of dollars in promoting acts going to Popkomm in Germany this year. So what if Popkomm gets cancelled. The musicians will still go and play their other dates which they, and Steve, have booked.
I ask you to reconsider the decision and give Steve back what he has so passionately fought for....a fair go for promoting Victorian artists!
